In the Spotlight with Bryan London

In this series, we sit down with industry experts to learn more about the latest trends and opportunities for the travel industry. Bryan London is an Advisor to Joyned’s founders and Director in the US. Bryan draws upon decades of experience at Salesforce and various successful business endeavors.

Thanks for taking the time to speak with us today, Bryan. Can you tell us a bit about your background?

During my 11 years at Salesforce, I had the opportunity to work with some of the world’s premier hotel brands. Initially, I was an individual contributor partnered with Marriott, providing transformative solutions to both associates and consumers that enhanced experiences across multiple channels. This eventually led to an opportunity to become a Regional Vice President, creating a dedicated enterprise hospitality team focused on the largest hospitality brands in the US. I recently spent a year with a conversational AI provider prior to deciding to pursue a new challenge.

Around the same time, I connected with Jonathan, one of Joyned’s founders, who was in the process of building an international team of advisors. We had multiple discussions about the possibility of working together, and I was drawn to his vision. Things came together in early July when I officially came on board. My primary focus is helping to expand Joyned’s presence in the US, including representation of Joyned at industry events and business development.

Are there any aspects of your career that stand out the most?

Over the years, I’ve had exposure to retail, travel, and hospitality, inclusive of hotel brands, OTAs, cruise lines, casinos, and many others. This has allowed me to learn more about how companies go to market, sell, and service their clients along with their goals and challenges. Interestingly enough, most enterprises have many of the same challenges, but being able to communicate in their language and terminology is of utmost importance to build credibility to position a vision of what is possible.

I’m inherently a salesperson at heart. My core strength lies in building relationships, earning trust, and deeply understanding customers’ needs. My role has always been discovering what the customer wants to achieve and figuring out how we can help them reach those goals. This approach is the foundation of what I do every day.

What do you think the future holds for the travel industry?

As consumers become increasingly knowledgeable, their expectations are higher than ever. With different search tools at their fingertips, they can explore available options in many different ways. This presents a significant challenge for the hospitality sector, as they need to provide seamless user experiences on par with the evolving tools. Travel providers have the opportunity, in particular in the planning and booking stages, to improve on a very fractured process.

Based on that, I think one of the biggest trends and opportunities is to deliver on the connected trip. The future of the industry will depend on how well we can use technology to enhance the consumer experience and link every aspect of a journey, from planning to booking to on-the-ground local activities. AI of course has a major role here, providing more intuitive solutions for both consumers and associates supporting those consumers.

Why should the travel industry take notice of Joyned?

Addressing the rising demand for the connected trip, Joyned has an opportunity to enable a portion of this transformation. With its unique approach of connecting how people plan (via social tools) with how they buy (e-commerce), Joyned’s social revenue platform is poised to make a significant impact on the industry. It’s about fostering a connected experience for consumers while providing brands with tools to increase engagement, improve customer satisfaction, and generate additional revenue. Joyned fills the gap in the market by bringing together a fragmented set of capabilities into one platform, facilitating a seamless user experience. I look forward to seeing where everything goes…. it will take multiple vendors to make it work, but I strongly believe Joyned is uniquely positioned to make an impact.
